According to Michael Gluck, programmer at developer Crytek, Crytek will release Crysis 2 as a new graphic standard on the PlayStation 3. “Other games will have trouble exceeding that new standard”, according to Gluck.
“On every new generation of games on the PlayStation 3, about once per two years, we see that the games improve in quality. Something that we especially see in the graphics”, tells Gluck opposite the magazine Play. I think that we will see some asthonishing graphics this summer if we have to believe the programmer at Crytek.
“We already tried to make the best games possible for the PS3, and now with Crysis 2 we certainly made a standard for all the PS3 developers.” A possible continuation on Crysis 2 will not mean a new standard according to Gluck. Crysis 3 will get only small improvements in comparison with the second part.
More interaction
“It is very unlikely that we will see large improvements in the graphics, because we are not trying to replace graphic parts but we will make improvements on the previous engine”, he said. “Thus you have to expect stronger game-elements, physics effects and more interaction, but the graphic quality won’t become much higher.”
Crysis 2 was revealed this week official by Crytek during an event on Tim Square in New York. The game will hit the stores later this year, probably in the summer, and it comes to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and the pc. We gathered some screenshots of the new Crysis 2 game:
